To support the national tour of Gary Clarke’s highly anticipated new dance theatre show Wasteland, Gary Clarke Company will deliver a range of education packages for people of all ages and experience.

Workshop and Show package

The Wasteland workshop and Show deal is available to schools, colleges, universities and community groups. As part of this exciting integrated package, participants (aged 14+) will take part in an individually tailored 3 hour movement and creative workshop, watch a live performance of Wasteland, be invited to give a critical response as part of an engaging post show discussion and meet choreographer Gary Clarke and company members after the performance.

This unique offer will also provide participants and gatekeepers with an insight into the decline of the British coal mining industry and the birth of rave sub-culture in the UK as well as a rare opportunity to see a new live theatre production and a platform to voice opinions and responses to Wasteland, as audiences.

Behind the Scenes of Wasteland package

The Behind the Scenes of Wasteland package is available to schools, colleges, universities and community groups (aged 14+). Participants will engage in an individually tailored 1-hour seminar with choreographer and artistic director, Gary Clarke, witness a closed company technical rehearsal live on stage, take part in a back-stage tour of the theatre (where possible), watch a performance of Wasteland and be invited to give a critical response as part of an engaging post show discussion.

This unique package will provide participants and gatekeepers with an insight into the decline of the British coal mining industry and the birth of rave culture in the UK, as well as an opportunity to learn more about the choreographer Gary Clarke, his work to date and the theatre industry in general. Participants will further explore Gary’s research through exclusive access to his sketch books, notes, documentary film footage and interview archives. They will also have a rare opportunity to see a new live theatre production from technical rehearsal to public performance and a platform to voice opinions and responses to the show as audiences.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF WASTELAND

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Professional Dance Artists and Teachers

To accompany the tour of Wasteland, we are pleased to be offering new CPD opportunities for Professional Dance Artists, Companies and Teachers.

Participants will take part in 1 or 2 day CPD workshops or teacher inset days with choreographer Gary Clarke, followed by the opportunity to watch a live performance of Wasteland at a special ticket rate.

This unique experience will give participants a unique insight into Gary Clarke’s career, use of technique, creative processes and community engagement models with a particular focus on new work Wasteland.
