THANK YOU
The WASTELAND Re-tour 2023 has now ended.
Thank you to EVERYONE involved in helping us get the show back out on the road and to the attentive and appreciative audiences – all 5411 of you who came to see one of the shows across the 9 UK venues we partnered with. We had a blast.
NATIONAL PORTFOLIO ORGANISATION
GARY CLARKE COMPANY, co-founded and led by Artistic Director Gary Clarke and Executive Producer Annabel Dunbar is at a pivotal point in its development having successfully bid for National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) funding from Arts Council England to help deliver its three-year plan from 2023 – 2026.
Moving from a highly successful project-by-project company of freelancers, that regularly exceeds its targets, we are now creating a year-round organisation that will deliver its high-quality programme of work annually.
NEW WEBSITE | COMING SOON
As part of our first year as an NPO, we will be working with our long-time collaborators HdK and Designer Jo Briggs to develop a new GARY CLARKE COMPANY website from Spring 2024.
The new website will become the information hub for all things GARY CLARKE COMPANY and sit with our micro touring websites such as this site for WASTELAND.
GARY CLARKE COMPANY requires a versatile and highly skilled female identifying dancer who is also part of the LGBT+ community to join the company for the world premiere and 2025 UK Spring / Autumn tour of the company’s new mid-scale dance theatre show DETENTION.
DETENTION is the eagerly anticipated new touring show from renowned choreographer Gary Clarke and is the final part of a trilogy of theatrical dance works following the multi-award-winning production COAL (Winner of a UK Theatre Award and a Critics Circle National Dance Award) and the critically acclaimed production WASTELAND.
DETENTION explores the controversial Section 28 of the 1988 UK Local Government Act and the direct impact it had on LGBT+ communities nationwide.
Find out more about the requirements, application details, and audition dates.
Are you part of Blackpool’s vibrant and historic LGBTQ+ community? Would you like the opportunity to celebrate your community through collaboration and creativity? We would like to hear from you!
